Snapping: America's Epidemic of Sudden Personality Change
“In June, 1978, six months before the cult massacre in Jonestown, Guyana, (authors) published SNAPPING, a groundbreaking investigation of the spreading epidemic of sudden, drastic personality changes that was bringing a frightening new era of personal loss and horrific human tragedies. SNAPPING went on to sell 100,000 hardcover and trade paperback copies and become a required text in high school and college classes in psychology, sociology, persuasion, mass communication, criminology, and comparative religion. Now SNAPPING is back in a new Kindle edition of the expanded and updated 2nd Edition from Stillpoint Press. Today snapping is on the rise among zealous cult members, born-again Christians, anti-government ideologues, participants in popular self-help, professional training and “stress reduction” programs--and, increasingly, among people in everyday life situations. And the epidemic is spreading worldwide in the 21st century. In this Kindle edition, the authors show how powerful, mind-altering spiritual and personal growth practices found in all these domains may impair the brain’s living information-processing powers and lead to profound personal changes, altered awareness, thinking, feeling and free choice, post-traumatic stress disorders, grand delusions, and violent destructive acts. “

The Millennium Chronology

The Holiday Grief Journal

2012: Political Self-Righteousness, A Time for Self-Reflection
“The author does an excellent job of outlining all of our trials and tribulations, starting with a short definition of each issue. Then, he explains the right's opinion, the left's opinion, and his no no-nonsense ‘from the middle’ opinion. This book uncovers the “sacred cows” that create our political divisiveness.”

Going from another product of this author’s he has good tips but is a very poor writer.

She embarked on the project with little knowledge but with much hope and optimism for the future in her heart. Fifty years later, the seeds and plants had grown and matured and her garden had morphed into a beautiful haven. At the same time, her husband Christopher put trust in his skills and in the future, embarking on a new business that would reward him by providing for his family for nearly six decades. As the garden grew, so did their lives, their family and their community.”

This book is listed under fiction on Amazon but upon reading the description it’s actually an account of true Holocaust stories from the author’s family. May be written in a fictional style?

When death is lurking just one floor below Liam, he finds deliverance in a textbook.

More Sci-Fi-or-Fantasy-ish

Dawnwind: Last Man Standing
“When the benevolent Junians came to Earth, they were shocked to discover humanity almost wiped out by a global pandemic. They found only one survivor, a man named John Epcott. The Last Human.”

A Heartbeat from Tomorrow (Part 1)
1st of more, but others not out yet: “Time probes sent forward to 5174 A.D. discover a rogue black hole is going to pass close enough to our sun to cause it to explode. …As the year 5174 looms closer and closer, it becomes obvious that there is nothing the current generation can do to change the outcome of 5174 A.D. Time probes confirm that: (1) burrowing deep into the earth, (2) relocating to the moons of Uranus and Neptune, and (3) trying to use a spaceship to outrun the rapidly expanding inferno of solar debris are all futile tactics. As a last resort, it is decided to “push” the knowledge of advanced science back in time, before certain important discoveries and breakthroughs would occur naturally. Maybe, just maybe, if the human race had an extra thousand years to prepare for the cosmic disaster that was coming, maybe there might be some way for man to survive beyond 5174 A.D. Desperate times call for desperate measures.”

Apocalypsis: Book 1 (Kahayatle)
Many high reviews. Cliff-hanger “I'm seventeen years old, and I live in a neighborhood outside of Orlando, Florida. I live alone because my dad died almost a year ago, along with all the other adults in the world. I'm almost out of food and the gangs of kids that roam around my town are getting more vicious by the day. It's time for me to leave and find another place to live ... a place where I can find food and shelter ... a place where they won't be able to find me. Alone, it might have been possible; but now I've got company. I'm worried that I don't have what it takes to get from here to my final destination. And I have no idea what might be waiting for me when I get there. **No drugs, or sex in this installment of the series. Yes, there is some violence and some foul language. This is in the DARK SCIENCE FICTION/HORROR/POST-APOCALYPTIC genres, featuring teen characters only. May not be suitable for younger, middle grade readers.**"

I don’t usually include any books in the horror genre. This says it includes some horror elements but the description doesn’t say what kind so I took a risk.  Actually I took more than that, I took ½ hour to read all the reviews to get a hint of what’s in here. It’s aimed at older teens. “took the trendy zombie apocalypse and put an interesting twist on it” “same category/genre as Hunger Games” Includes “rape, vicious fighting and cannibalism” “suicide note and the resulting dead bodies” “quite violent and graphic so I would not recommend this book for under sixteen” main character knows Krav Maga and regularly severely beats up people in her way. “heavy but totally believable zombie war drama”. After all the reading I am *pretty sure* that the horror/kindazombie element is the cannibalism. Author writes in a comment but not in the description,”not recommended for anyone under 15 years of age due to the violence, occasional bad language, and non-explicit sexual situations presented.”

REDUCTIONS

Face of the Earth
“Smallpox was wiped off the face of the Earth more than 30 years ago, but an outbreak on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico has claimed one life, and the disease is spreading. The conclusion that the outbreak is the result of a terrorist attack is official U.S. policy, but the facts don’t add up to terrorism.”
Print List Price: $17.99 Previous Price: $4.99     (according to the book-watching program I use)
Current Price: $.99
This book was free and listed here on Sept 9, but as it now has a number of good reviews (the main reason for the free offers) I don’ t know when/whether it will be free again.
