Books Available June 25, 2012

So I spent part of the day yesterday chatting with Amazon about the problem with their not getting the books up.  It was quite a winding road, but they made a report to go to the right people, and it might have worked, as it looks like there were twice as many books up today, after NONE yesterday at all.  It's the first day that happened since I started doing this.

So, here are today's books.

Weekend Homesteader: December
"Which fruit tree is the easiest to grow in your backyard? How can your family stay warm during a winter power outage? What tools do you really need to make your homestead a success? Can you build your homestead using free tools and supplies? This month's volume of Weekend Homesteader answers these questions and more as it walks you through the basics of planting your first fruit trees, staying warm without electricity, understanding the uses of essential tools, and turning trash into treasures.

For those of you who are new to Weekend Homesteader, this series walks you through the basics of growing your own food, cooking the bounty, preparing for emergency power outages, and achieving financial independence. Technically, the series began in May (or November in the southern hemisphere), but most of the projects are designed to be accessible even to someone starting from square one each month. This ebook, and each other volume in the series, presents one easy and fun project for each weekend so that you'll keep making headway without becoming overwhelmed."

Medical Books:

Genes, Chromosomes, and Disease: From Simple Traits, to Complex Traits, to Personalized Medicine (FT Press Science)
FT Press is a well respected regular publisher of technical books.  This isn't necessarily survival stuff but I couldn't resist.

And now some more from Audio Press. For others from them that may still be free, check the past week going back to the 21st.
"Audio-Digest Foundation is the leading publisher of independent, accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Education (CE) products in the world. For over 60 years, thousands of doctors, nurses, physician assistants, and other medical professionals have counted on unbiased, cutting edge programs."  These look quite a bit like study notes, not a bad way to get quick and concise information about a particular subject.

FICTION:

Hunt The Big One
Children's books about a boy living in the woods with his dad, includes raising cubs and hunting a vengeful bear.

Church and State
"the not-too-distant future, and in the wake of a nuclear terrorist attack," religious and political fiction.

Glass House: Climate Change in the Third Millennium
"eco-disaster slowly overwhelms Britain. Appointed to a key government committee to mitigate the effects of catastrophic climate change, Tournier cheerfully chronicles the self-interest, greed and vanity of our rulers as the disaster unfolds."

2012 Armageddon: Unholy Alliance
"A global conspiracy is forming. Nations, terrorist groups, and criminal organizations with one thing in common, a burning hatred for America, are coming together to strike a crippling blow against freedom. Jordan, recently recruited into Homeland Security, races against time to prepare her family for the impending disaster, while still working through official channels to try to prevent it. If she can’t save the nation from its fate, she will do everything in her power to ensure her family’s survival, for with them lies the seed of hope for the future of democracy."

Nine-Tenths
"Leonard Tramer and his family live in Colorado, trapped behind the walls of a totalitarian state. Dedicated to one another and determined to find the free world, they plan an escape which defies the odds and deceives their tyrannical government.  Emerging at a time when personal liberties and Internet privacy are slowly eroding, NINE-TENTHS offers a window into a dysfunctional society, while celebrating the resiliency of the human spirit and the natural urge to resist oppression."

The King of Clayfield
"A pandemic is quickly spreading around the globe, and in less than a day has turned most of the residents of Clayfield into murderous zombies. Having no safe haven to which he can flee, he decides to stick it out in his hometown. However, zombies are not his only concern. He must also contend with other survivors, his lack of skills, and his own conscience. "

Time Storm 2012: Atlantis and the Mayan Prophecy, revised edition.
According to quite a few reviewers, not well edited; amateur.  Plot goes along with the rough theme, though.

Breakers
Starts with virus pandemic.  Ends with aliens.
